Shows and competitions
We regularly hold show jumping, dressage, eventing and Pony Games competitions at our facilities.
We also help organise:
- The Barcelona Show Jumping League
- The Barcelona Dressage League
Students who wish to do so can also compete at regional and national events away from the club, accompanied by our instructors.
AN EQUESTRIAN FEDERATION LICENCE IS REQUIRED.

Frequently asked questions about competitions.
Show jumping
Horse and rider complete a course of fences whose height and technical difficulty vary with the competition level. Riders aim to demonstrate their horse’s ability and skill by clearing the obstacles without knocking them down or incurring faults.
Dressage
Dressage focuses on the precision and elegance of the horse’s movements. Riders perform a set sequence of movements in an arena. Each is scored on its execution, with emphasis on harmony between horse and rider, quality of movement and responsiveness.
Cross-country
This discipline combines jumping with riding in open countryside. Horse and rider negotiate natural obstacles such as logs, fences and ditches. The course tests the horse’s stamina and agility and the rider’s ability to make quick, accurate decisions.
Competitions help develop riders’ skills and showcase horses’ abilities.
Alongside recognising sporting performance, they encourage camaraderie and give riders the chance to demonstrate their skills in a competitive, enjoyable setting.
