Bringing horse riding to children and adults
since 1988.
Centre d’Equitació Poni Club Catalunya was founded in 1988 to promote horse riding among children aged 3 and over. It was the first pony club in Catalonia.
To develop the project, we drew on the experience of countries such as France, England and the Netherlands, where equestrian traditions are deeply rooted and pony riding is common.
We renovated old stables, adapted them for children and imported our first Irish ponies. After some challenging early years, families began to discover the benefits of these small horses, which children can handle, ride and love.
In 1990, we organised the first Catalan Pony Championships in show jumping, dressage and cross-country, with more than 90 participants. The third championships followed in 1992, after further imports of ponies from Ireland and France.
As the club grew, we introduced horse livery and lessons for adults. Today, we have around 40 horses in livery, 15 club horses and 25 ponies of different sizes for beginners, skill development and competition.
In 1998, we created the Petita Escola de Ponis for children aged 3 to 6, introducing Shetland ponies and separate facilities adapted to our youngest pupils.

Where are we?
Poni Club is in the Vall de Sant Just, within Collserola Park, just 10 minutes from Barcelona. You can reach us by car, bicycle, on horseback or on foot.

Services and areas of the club
Riding school: Our qualified instructors teach children from age 3 and adults. Programmes cover dressage, show jumping and outdoor riding, as well as summer camps and other activities.
Little Pony School: Designed for children aged 3 to 6, this school offers young children a safe, adapted environment in which to begin their riding journey through play and interaction with ponies.
